People Profits Principle #83

Ever been micromanaged? Enjoy it? How many times has your supervisor reversed this order? How much of your career have you spent with someone telling you how to do something instead of why and what? After you understood the job, how many times did you change the how? My guess is many times.

Think about your best supervisors you had. No one ever talks about a micromanager as being their best supervisor.

Do you wish more people could calculate the ROI for a project? Wish they would at least think about it? Wish they could "run the numbers" for a project before jumping into it?

HR is probably the worst in this regard of all the business functions. The vast majority of HR professionals are not comfortable with numbers and many are numbers phobic. Then how can they run the numbers or talk in terms of ROI? They can't and that is why so many CEOs and CFOs are frustrated with HR.

Have you ever had a buddy at work? How nice was that? Especially when you could work together and you were productive? Someone who knew how you did things and would cover your back? Who you looked out for? You were a team and you got stuff done?

Honestly, I don't see that alot. Two employees might "get along"; but it is shallow. Too many people will throw other people under the bus for little to nothing. It is truely a joy to see when it happens.
