When Cash Flow is no longer King - Attracting and Retaining the Right People becomes King
When a person starts a business – Cash Flow is King and the Owner is constantly focused on Cash Flow. They are trying to generate revenue, pay their bills and try to keep some for themselves. If they are successful, the revenues will grow and begin to be consistent. At some point, the business hits “The Tipping Point” and Cash Flow is no longer King.
The need to attract and retain great employees becomes King. Many businesses purposely do not allow their businesses to get to this point as they do not want Employees and the resulting problems. They consciously and premeditatedly decide to limit their businesses and in many cases their incomes because they do not know how to attract, manage, motivate and attain the results they want from other People.
Most businesses, who decide they want to grow, move forward and grope about in the dark regarding their People. If the business continues to grow the People problems get exponentially worse. In most cases the Owners hit a People Wall and either scale back their growth plans or spend an incredible amount of resources (Time and $$$) trying to make their People attain the results the Owners need.
Many of these businesses do not realize that if they developed a Human Capital Plan – much like they developed their Business, Financial and Marketing Plans - they could significantly grow their businesses without the Resource drain. They generally have personal knowledge which helps write their Business and Marketing Plans. The Bank helps them develop and document a thorough Financial Plan. 
They do not have the knowledge to develop a Plan and do not know anyone who can help them develop their People Plan.
